Deteriorate.

Photos of my last collection of rings. Continuing with the beauty in decay idea. Things change and i find it really interesting to make something that will knowingly change through wearing. The idea that it will get in the way, pick up little nicks here and there.

Stockholm.

photos: Alys Newton, Karin Johansson- Platina

A couple of months back i was super lucky and got to go to Stockholm for a long weekend. Such a nice city with lovely people and some amazing shops and galleries. Got to go to Weekday for the first time, eek! But more importantly I was able to visit Gallery Platina. So, so nice! When i was there they were showing the Karin Johansson, Abstractions of a City Exhibition, really interesting!

Tools.

Went to the recycling centre with my dad the other day and found this! Its taking a while to clean up, but at least i get to look at some lovely rust whilst doing so! If any of you guys have seen my pinterest account you will know that I'm a sucker for rust and decay so it's all good. I've been using vinegar to help me clean it and i left it the other day with these kitchen towels soaked in vinegar on it, look how beautiful they came out. I almost don't want to clean it up, just make more pretty rust pictures, but I know that when its done I will have a happy new home for some of my tools!

Some photos taken whilst clearing out my gran's house. The house looked strangely beautiful once striped back and bare. Aged and coming apart.

Suspended in Pink.

I guess by now you will all have realized that I am pretty absent when it comes to blogging. Now this isn’t because I don’t love it, but mainly because as soon as school starts back I get super busy.

Just after christmas (a really, really long time ago!) I was lucky enough to get to help Laura Bradshaw-Heap with the set up of her exhibition Suspended in Pink when it was in Birmingham. The show has a beautiful array of pieces by both recent grads and established contemporary designers. Its currently touring, next stop Heidi Lowe Gallery, USA from 11.08.13 to 08.09.13, o if you happen to be in Delaware this summer, pop in. Head over to Suspended in Pink's blog for more info on participating jewellers.

Onionskin.

Photos: Peace Buzzard

Here’s a quick peak at the project I just finished at uni. We’ve been thrown right in with some really fast paced projects and this one was based around unusual materials. I decided to choose onionskin and linseed putty, possibly the two most disgusting smelling materials out there. And I decided to put it all on my face. I wanted to continue along the bruise/ skin lines of my last collection, so I’ve been making some ‘second skins’. Love the way the yellows and purples could be mistaken for actual bruises.
